I know it’s been a long time since I’ve done anything with the blog, and I apologize to anyone who was checking the site waiting for an update.
In the months since the completion of the case, not a lot has gone on with regards to it, but I do have one gigantic piece of news that I am very excited about:
The wooden case won the case modification competition at Digital Overload 2010! There was some stiff competition, especially from an acrylic case with (get this) saw blades attached to it! My wooden case was a bit weary about sitting next to such an opponent, but the case played nice and didn’t cut up the wooden one.

Another video tour, this time with the case completely finished.
This means that this blog is drawing to a close once I update a few of the pages with some more professional pictures and maybe an HD video. I just want to thank all of those that followed this build so much. I’ll be updating if this thing ever gets entered into a competition, or wins one!
I’m sorry about the long wait; I’ve been doing all sort of other things this weekend and the computer case kind of got put on the back burner.
This post is a short one to tide you over until later tonight when I write a bigger one. I got the majority of the case put together the other day, so here are the pictures of that.
I’ve spent the last day spraying the case. I’m going through lacquer a lot quicker than I thought, and I’ve spent about $32 so far on it with another $8 about to be spent tomorrow.
I’m taking a break for the weekend so that I don’t get too much cancer in my system, etc.
I took a few grainy pictures using my Blackberry Bold of the parts that have been sprayed/still need more spraying.
I was just looking through my Photobucket, trimming away old pictures from my youth, etc, and I realized that I’ve taken roughly ~325 individual pictures of this computer case and the steps detailing it’s construction.
If that isn’t in depth and detailed, I don’t know what is.
Awesome news; I found nitrocellulose lacquer. This means I don’t have to use water based garbage, and it means that I’m suddenly much happier about the direction that this project is going.
I bought two 320g spray bottles and a spray attachment for a grand total of $25. I’m going to return the sanding sealer since I don’t need it anymore, and I’ll be able to start spraying the project tomorrow or Friday!
That’s it for now, I just wanted to share that development.
Newest posts are on the front page so if you're just starting to read the blog, start at the beginning. I can't find a way to put old posts first.
Enjoy!
